Having experienced hurricane Harvey the day before, how joyous it is was to wake up to bright sunshine on 9/3/17 for Allison and Shane’s wedding day. Allison and Shane focused on whimsy and romance as inspiration for the wedding which was held in one of the many gardens at Gramercy Mansion. Everywhere you look at Gramercy, you are greeted with blooms, tall, green trees, and hidden paths, perfect for sneaking away for a few moments together as husband and wife. Allison and Shane met at Penn State in 2011. Shane pursued Allison first as the attraction was stronger on his side (he has great instincts)! They got engaged last May during Allison’s birthday weekend when Shane proposed during a sunset bike ride along the Potomac River.
When describing their wedding plans, Allison shared her vision for a sunset English garden ceremony with dusty rose and navy colors accented by lots of greenery. Shane’s grandfather stepped in to perform part of their wedding ceremony, as he had also done decades before for Shane’s parents on their wedding day. He later jumped in full force to celebrate on the dance-floor which was the best! I also love this poem that was part of Shane and Allison's details:
The couple’s joy
Began when a handsome boy
Asked a beautiful girl
To share his world.
Wedded bliss…
It start with a kiss
Shared in a place of tranquility,
Meant to last through eternity.
Husband and wife… so romantic
And true love… so enchanted
As they continue to write the pages
Of a love story for the ages.
During planning, Allison and Shane shared that they have very diverse family and friends. This brings me so much joy, to capture this coming together of Allison, her family and friends, and Shane, his family and friends, in overwhelming happiness and unity on one of the best days of their lives. Congratulations to you both as you continue to grow together in your marriage!

Sometimes you capture joy at the exact moment, and its a happy accident. This moment above where Kim laughed as she watched Allison dancing her first dance as a wife is one of my favorite candids!
