Katerina and Mac | Rockwood Manor Wedding | Washington DC Wedding Photography
This winter has been filled with catching up on the blog from beautiful wedding moments of 2018. If you haven’t had a chance to peruse the blog lately, I’d love to have you check out some of the recent posts! Today, we are sharing my last wedding of 2018 which was the perfect end to the year in all it’s fall glory, a surprise visit from an 8 point buck in the middle of Washington D.C, and the union of two wonderful people!
Katerina and Mac were married on November 3rd which had the most beautiful weather for a fall wedding in Washington D.C. Instead of planning just a one day celebration, they scheduled a full wedding weekend while still keeping the intimacy of a smaller wedding with close family and friends. Kat and Mac shared that they wanted their guests to feel relaxed and be able to use the time to connect with family and friends which they haven’t seen in a long time as they had several groups which would be seeing each other for the first time in years. They knew Rockwood Manor was the perfect place to host their wedding weekend as it offered accommodations for their guests for the weekend in a secluded forest environment which matched their rustic wedding theme balanced with the elegance of their church ceremony.
Kat and Mac’s favorite thing to do as a couple is spend time in the forest, whether it be taking a casual stroll in the woods, camping or hiking together. On their first visit to Rockwood, they saw several deer which they took as a good sign for their wedding and there was a similar surprise on their wedding day! As the family were taking portraits at the church, a massive buck came across the street to join in the fun. I’m not sure where he came from as it was the middle of the afternoon in the city but it was just a little extra dose of magic for Katerina and Mac’s wedding day!
In addition to the surprise animal presence, Kat and Mac’s wedding day had so many personal touches included as well. Katerina’s engagement ring was an heirloom ring from Mac that had been in his family for over 100 years. Kat also had some of the MacFarlane plaid to incorporate into their wedding details. Mac created the table number to match their invitations as well as place cards for guests with fantastical beasts incorporated from their favorite shows like star wars and star trek. Kat’s mother Carol worked very hard on the flower arrangements and centerpieces and both families added family mementos to decorate the bookshelves in the reception space. Through their thoughtful planning (and assistance from family and friends), Katerina and Mac’s wedding day was the perfect balance between elegance, tradition, and fun which I was so honored to be a part of!
