Mount Airy Mansion Wedding | Megan+John | Annapolis Wedding Photographer

I’m not sure how you spent your Cinco De Mayo this year, but I spent it doing what I love - photographing Megan and John’s wedding! Megan and John were married at St. Joseph’s Center in Upper Marlboro followed by a reception celebration (complete with tacos and a cerveza themed groom’s cake) at Mount Airy Mansion in Upper Marlboro. This was my first time at Mount Airy Mansion and was charmed by the history as well as all of the windows and natural light which framed the surrounding forests perfectly. The mansion has a balcony overlooking the driveway which is a great spot to add a little personalized decor and take advantage of for a few portraits as well! Megan and John chose the mansion due to its close proximity to their home as well as it being a relatively "blank slate". During the months leading up to the wedding, Megan worked very hard to design and prepare many of the details - including the invitations, favors, and signs which all came out beautifully!

Megan and John were relaxed throughout their day, from preparation through to the last dance. Their two children, Phiona and LJ, were excited to be a part of the day as well (and were looking forward to cupcakes at the reception!). There was a little hiccup while Megan was getting ready and but Phiona was happy to jump in (and kept admiring her beautiful mom in her wedding gown!). Rarely do things go 100% as planned on a wedding day as there are so many moving parts and immense emotion as well. These are wonderful opportunities to look for the unexpected joys- and take mental note to share the great stories that come out of it! As a Maryland Wedding Photographer who also remembers the stress and overwhelming emotions from my day, I know that how the couple reacts to unexpected events can quickly change the tone and vibe of a day. Megan and John didn’t even bat an eye to the little things that weren’t quite as planned -including the sporadic sprinkling of rain and a little unexpected walk in it! They embraced the day, honored and cried with their families, and everyone celebrated the new Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. Congratulations you two!
