Rock State Park Engagement | Elise + Nick | Maryland Wedding Photographer

I’m so excited to share all about Elise and Nick’s fall engagement portrait session! It was so much fun adventuring with these two as we hiked over to Kilgore Falls and later to the King and Queen Seat at Rock State Park for their session. Although this wasn’t my first visit to the area, it was my first portrait session at Rock State Park. I absolutely loved Elise and Nick’s outfit choices (That green dress tho :D) set amongst the beautiful fall landscape but more than that, I loved how they were able to have fun together during the session. Okay Nick mostly played along, but I believe he enjoyed it on the inside!
Elise and Nick’s fairytale started when they met as elementary school music teachers and they continue to enjoy spending time together playing music and perfecting their food and wine pairing expertise. Elise shared how she knew Nick was the one for her and a little bit about their engagement story:
“I knew Nick was the one for me pretty early on. It’s a little embarrassing, but one of our first dates was supposed to be a friend’s wedding and I got terribly sick during the ceremony and needed to go to the hospital. He came along in his suit and tie and stayed with me and my parents until well into the night when I was home and when I finally took the medication and fell asleep. I have a picture we took that day of me in a hospital gown and him in a suit. I just can’t imagine a more sweet, helpful, kind, talented, and hard working person to spend life with.”
On Elise’s birthday, “Nick whisked me off to the outer banks on a school day! This was a very big to-do. I had no idea it was coming! He had to orchestrate substitutes for both of us at school and we just woke up Friday morning ready to go teach and he had pancakes and bacon ready - which I thought was strange because it was a school day but I figured, okay.. birthday breakfast. Then he told me we weren’t going into school and I was skeptical. But he told me to pack beach outfits and something nice and pjs because we were going on a trip! We drove 6 hours to OBX and when we got there and settled in to the air bnb, we walked down to the ocean and he proposed in a secluded stretch of beach. It was so wonderful. (And then I had to flag down a dog walker to get photos of him fake proposing because the first time was just us! Hahaha)”
I can’t wait to celebrate your wedding day with you both next fall at Rosewood Farms!
